Budweiser Launches Non-League Coaching Scheme Back to news

20th May 2013

-Neil Warnock spearheads new ‘Coach the Coaches’ programme-

London, UK – 20 May 2013 – Budweiser has today announced a new programme to help non-league coaches improve their skills by learning from some of the biggest names in UK football.

The new initiative, called ‘Budweiser Coach the Coaches,’ is backed by The League Managers Association. The programme aims to help coaches raise their game and improve their skills so they can achieve their full potential and instil confidence in players to reach their dreams in the game.

As a long-standing supporter of football around the world, Budweiser understands the importance of the game at all levels. Former Sheffield United, QPR & Leeds United manager, Neil Warnock has been recruited to spearhead the campaign to enhance coaching at non-league level.

Budweiser will bring together five top football coaches and managers in the UK to visit five non-league club coaches from steps 5-7 of the football pyramid, hosting one-on-one mentor sessions to support their development and enhance their understanding of the game.  Each session will be filmed, with the content created showcased online.

The programme ties into Budweiser’s #tothedream campaign which aims to inspire optimism amongst clubs and fans,  celebrating the beautiful game and those sporting individuals at the heart and soul of football.

Neil Warnock features in the video introducing the programme to potential applicants, which can be viewed on Budweiser’s UK Facebook and YouTube pages. To get involved in Budweiser Coach the Coaches, non-league clubs will need to visit Budweiser.co.uk/coach-the-coaches before applications close on Friday 31st May*.

Neil Warnock said: “No matter what level of the game you’re competing in, everyone knows the day to day challenges that coaches are under.  Coaches at this level of the game are often under greater pressure, as they may have to balance full time work with their coaching commitments. I’m delighted to be backing the Budweiser Coach the Coaches programme which gives a fantastic opportunity, for us coaches that have been fortunate enough to coach professionally, to pass on our experiences and give something back to non-league football.”

Budweiser Marketing Manager, Jennifer Anton, said: “Budweiser is committed to supporting football at all levels and wants to promote the long-term future of the game in the UK.  Guidance from professional coaches for non-league club staff will help players develop and clubs’ to build their legacy and progress through the leagues.

“Budweiser has a long history of supporting football.  By coaching non-league coaches we hope to inspire communities and their football clubs.”
