AB InBev and C&C Group extend their partnership with new distribution agreements and extended brewing contracts
London/Dublin, 12 December 2016: AB InBev, the world’s leading brewer, and C&C Group, a leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of branded drinks products, have today agreed on a renewed partnership and extended multi-year contracts for the UK and Irish market, that include:
- A new distribution contract whereby AB InBev will be responsible for the sale and trade marketing of C&C Group’s cider portfolio in England, Wales, Isle of Man and Channel Islands
- A renewed and extended contract whereby C&C Group will continue brewing, kegging, bottling and canning certain AB InBev products at the C&C Wellpark Brewery in Glasgow
- A renewal of existing arrangements whereby C&C Group will distribute AB InBev’s beer portfolio in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland
C&C Group have been working closely with AB InBev since 2009 and have been responsible for brewing and distributing the brewer’s world-famous brands, such as Stella Artois and Beck’s, in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The new agreement, whereby AB InBev will represent C&C Group’s portfolio of cider products (including Magners Cider) across England, Wales, Isle of Man and Channel Islands, will utilise (after a transitional period) AB InBev’s world class distribution network to get C&C’s diverse portfolio of ciders to more people, and strengthen AB InBev’s existing portfolio of premium beer and cider.
Jason Warner, President, AB InBev UK & Ireland, said: “AB InBev has had a close, strategic partnership with C&C Group since 2009 and we are very happy to announce today that we’re strengthening our business ties. The new and extended contracts will utilise AB InBev’s world class distribution network to bring people in England, Wales, Channel Island and the Isle of Man more choice in the cider category. This partnership will provide our customers in both the on and off-trade with a renowned, complementary portfolio including Budweiser, Corona, Stella Artois, Goose, Camden, Magners, Chaplin & Cork’s, Blackthorn and K from AB InBev.”
Stephen Glancey, CEO of C&C Group, said: “This marks a new phase in our long term partnership with AB InBev, leveraging the manufacturing, distribution and portfolio strengths of our two businesses in the UK and Ireland. The renewal and expansion of the agreement to distribute AB InBev’s portfolio of beers throughout Scotland and Ireland is testament to the strength of our distribution networks and our leading positions and brands in these territories. We are also excited about the increased opportunities we now have for our cider brands in England, Wales, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, where AB InBev’s distribution capabilities are strong. We are confident that the agreements we have signed today will continue to drive volumes over the long term for both companies.”
AB InBev and C&C Group are working closely together to ensure a smooth transition process – expected to be completed in Q1 2017. There will be no impact to service levels in the meantime and customers will continue to order their beer and cider through their usual channels on the current terms, until transitions are finalised.
